IEEE 2089 Section 7.3 - Age-Appropriate Content Delivery
Implement content classification and configure recommendation algorithms to deliver age-appropriate content without amplifying harmful material
Where this comes from
Provision: Section 7.3 - Age-Appropriate Content Delivery
Instrument: IEEE 2089-2021
Citation: IEEE 2089-2021, Standard for an Age Appropriate Digital Services Framework, Section 7.3: Age-Appropriate Content Delivery
Text version: IEEE 2089-2021
Who it applies to
It applies when all of these are true:
- Service is likely to be accessed by children under 18
- Service uses recommendation algorithms
- Service allows user-generated content
What engineering work it implies
Sample acceptance criteria Landfall generates for this obligation:
- Content carries an age-suitability classification (uploader-supplied and/or automated)
- Access controls use the classification to restrict age-inappropriate content
- Misclassification can be reported and corrected, with the change recorded
- Default experience for users who are or may be minors excludes higher age-rated content
- System handles null/empty input gracefully (no 500 errors)
